This introduction is focused on the use of the technology for sewer catchment and treatment process.

The OpHset product is a unique Australian design, it is internationally acknowledged and a world's leading edge technology. It provides a biological, environmentally safe and sustainable solution to waste water management. OpHset offers the most fundamental advance in sewage management in the last 100 years.

The OpHset has the ability to remove the biofilm in the pipe, improve hydraulic efficiency, assists in an improved treatment process and reduced nutrient discharge levels to discharge waters. These nutrients namely phosphorus are encapsulated in the sludge and thus are able to be utilized through recycling for agricultural and horticultural applications.

The product is dosed into the catchment via wet wells, pump stations or other convenient entry points. The cost is equivalent to current chemical dosing systems such as magnesium hydroxide, ferrous chloride, calcium nitrate etc .

This is a safe and progressive technology that will provide a number of solutions for a range of issues in the management of waste water and that will save money. One recent outcome achieved was following the dosing of OpHset into the catchment where we were able to increase the pH from 2 to a pH level of 7. Low pH indicates corrosion potential that eats away at the infrastructure causing substantial costs and interruption to services. The OpHset technology has the ability to remove the biofilm/ carbon in the catchment and provide this resource to the treatment plants. What we know is that many treatment plants are carbon constrained and this results in difficulties with nutrient removal.
Such plants need to import readily available carbon such as ethanol, molasses or sugar.
How is this achieved?
The OpHset removes the metabolic products (toxins) that accumulate in the exopolysaccharide matrix which inhibit microbial activity (metabolic and reproduction rate). Sending bacteria from the floc / biofilm form to the single cell form breaks up this toxin laden exopolysaccharide matrix and releases the toxins into the environment in which their dilution will have no impact. As the floc / biofilms reform, both their metabolic and reproduction rates massively increase. Increased numbers of bacteria with higher metabolic rates are what improve sewage process and nutrient removal. This is evident in:

OpHset is NOT your traditional Chemical dosing. It uses cell signaling chemicals in trace amounts to manipulate bacteria and bacterial populations. Traditionally Water Treatment has been limited to engineering and chemical solutions that try to control bacteria. OpHset firstly controls bacteria at the cellular level. This is a MAJOR advancement.
OpHset outperforms the traditional technologies that tend to be more expensive and more polluting. OpHset does not add sediment to the system as other traditional products and technologies are know to do.

The OpHset technology has been scientifically tested both in the sewage catchment and at the treatment plants. That includes:

We have demonstrated increases in biogas generation of over 150%. This is achieved through anaerobic digesters at WWTPs and there is also substantial potential for adding the product into the waste stream of piggeries, dairy and poultry operations and waste water authorities treatment plants.

OpHset 1BG does not contain any bacteria, enzymes or other biological additives. The OpHset is a unique microbial control technology that allows the regulation of microbial activity within the waste water treatment system. Sewage and waste water processes are dependent on microbial activity.
When OpHset is dosed into the waste stream there is an increase in the microbial activity, which is both the metabolic and reproduction rates of the microbes. In the case of anaerobic bacteria this improves the treatment process with substantial increases in biogas production.
Typically toxic wastes build up in the system and encapsulate around the bacteria floc and inhibit both the metabolic and reproduction rate of the bacteria which slows the process.
It is the rate of metabolic activity that causes the breakdown of organic material in the waste water system. OpHset 1BG simply increases that rate. See graph.
We normally recommend an initial purging of the water body to a level of 6 ppm and then maintain a dosing of 6ppm to the incoming waste water.
